About this cluster

Within the Westbury Cluster there are 8 schools (local authority maintained and academies) in the 2021-22 academic year – 1 secondary and 57 primaries, 1 infant and 1 junior school.

The majority of the clusters’ schools are situated in urban areas, with 3 of the primary phase schools in rural villages.  1 of the primary phase schools is a ‘small school’ (fewer than 120 children on roll).

Indices of Multiple Deprivation 2019 data shows a wide range in levels of deprivation.  One Lower Super Output Area (LSOA) in Westbury ranks in the 3rd highest for overall deprivation nationally, with 4 LSOAs across the cluster area ranking in the least 20% for overall deprivation.

Schools in the clusters with higher than the national average of pupils eligible for Free School Meals are Westbury Junior (n=77, 33%) and Westbury Infants (n=65, 32.5%).  No schools have high numbers or proportions of children eligible for Service Pupil Premium.

The numbers of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) were notably higher than the national average at Westbury Junior School (n=24, 10.3% with an EHCP and n=53, 22.7% receiving SEN support) and Westbury Infants’ (n=37, 18.5% receiving SEN support).
