About this cluster
Within the Devizes Music Cluster there were 18 schools (local authority maintained and academies) in the 2021-22 academic year – 2 secondaries, 13 primaries, 1 infant, 1 junior and 1 special school with the addition of Silverwood School Devizes site (formerly Rowdeford Special School).
The majority of the cluster’s schools are situated in urban areas, with 9 of the primary phase schools in rural villages. 4 of the primary phase schools are ‘small schools’ (less than 120 children on roll).
Indices of Multiple Deprivation 2019 data shows a wide range in levels of deprivation. 2 Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) rank in the highest 30% for overall deprivation nationally, with 2 LSOAs across the cluster area ranking in the least 20% for overall deprivation. All other LSOAs rank within the 4th to the 8th decile.
Schools in the cluster which had higher than the national average of pupils eligible for Free School Meals are Downland Special School (n=52, 58.4%), St Joseph’s Catholic Primary (n=58, 33.7%), Five Lanes Primary (n=18, 25.7%), the Trinity Primary Academy (n=42, 26.3%), Southbroom Infants’ (n=44, 27.2%) and Southbroom St James’ (n=48, 25.1%). Schools in the cluster have relatively low numbers or proportions of children eligible for Service Pupil Premium.
The numbers of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) were notably higher than the national average at Wansdyke Community School (n=24, 10.5% with an EHCP), St Nicholas Bromham (n=31, 34.4% receiving SEN support), Southbroom Infants (n=57, 35.2% receiving SEN support) and Southbroom St James’ (n=44, 23% receiving SEN support).
