About this cluster
Within the Bradford on Avon and Corsham Music Cluster there were 13 schools (local authority maintained and academies) – 2 secondaries and 11 primaries – in the 2021-22 academic year. The cluster’s schools are situated in the towns of Corsham and Bradford on Avon and in the surrounding rural villages.
Westwood with Iford Primary was the only ‘small school’ (fewer than 120 children on roll – May 2021 school census data). Churchfields’ numbers on roll were 130, only slightly over the ‘small school’ threshold.
Indices of Multiple Deprivation 2019 data indicates low levels of overall deprivation. The Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) in the BoA and Corsham area all rank within the 5th to the 10th decile, with a high proportion of LSOAs in the 9th and 10th deciles.
Schools in the cluster that have a higher than the national average of pupils eligible for Free School Meals are Corsham Regis Primary (n=57, 35.6%). There are significant numbers or proportions of children eligible for Service Pupil Premium at Colerne Primary (n=101, 40.4%), Neston Primary (n=22, 10.6%), Corsham Primary (n=76, 11.6%) and Corsham School (n=55, 4.9%).
The numbers of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) were notably higher than the national average at St Patrick’s RC Primary (n=43, 22.9% receiving SEN support), Neston Primary (n=35, 16.9% receiving SEN support), Corsham Regis (n=37, 23.1% receiving SEN support), Corsham Primary (n=105, 16% receiving SEN support), Fitzmaurice Primary (n=18, 6.1% with an EHCP) and Winsley Primary (n=9, 6.1% with an EHCP).
