About this cluster
Within the Trowbridge Music Cluster there were 23 schools (local authority maintained and academies) in the 2021-22 academic year – 3 secondaries, 19 primaries and Silverwood School’s Trowbridge site (formerly Larkrise Special School).
The cluster’s schools are mostly in urban areas. 7 of the primary phase schools are in rural villages, with 3 considered ‘small schools’ (fewer than 120 children on roll).
The Trowbridge community area has 2 Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) which rank in the highest 20% for overall deprivation nationally and another in the highest 30%, according to Indices of Multiple Deprivation Data 2019. One of these LSOAs is in the highest 10% of LSOAs nationally for overall deprivation. This indicates that it is one of the most deprived areas in Wiltshire.
Schools in the cluster which had higher than the national average of pupils eligible for Free School Meals are Studley Green Primary (n=100, 49.3%), River Mead School (n=114, 42.4%), Clarendon Academy (n=212, 23.7%), Newtown Primary (n=59, 29.5%), Oasis Academy Longmeadow (n=44, 38.6%), Holbrook Primary (n=67, 27.5%), and Southwick Primary (n=43, 22.9%). No schools in the cluster had high numbers or proportions of children eligible for Service Pupil Premium.
The numbers of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) were notably higher than the national average at Studley Green Primary (n=40, 19.7% with an EHCP), River Mead School (n=57, 21.5% receiving SEN support and n=41, 15.2% with an EHCP) Southwick Primary (n=39, 20.7% receiving SEN support), Castle Mead School (n=31, 9.3% with an EHCP), and Oasis Academy Longmeadow (n=29, 25.4% receiving SEN support).
