In 2021, as part of our commitment to increasing stakeholder engagement we began developing Expert Groups.
These groups, each covering one of a music education hub’s key ‘roles’, enable stakeholders to contribute to and agree strategies for the Hub’s most important strands of work. As such, stakeholders and experts in their field are able to advise the Hub Team and in turn the Board on the short to medium term direction of the Hub.
The Expert Groups cover:
- First Access
- Progression
- Singing
- Clubs, Groups & Ensembles
- School Music Education Planning (SMEP)
A member of Hub staff will usually chair the group, which typically comprise two or more individuals with specific expertise in a relevant Hub Core Role or area of specific interest. There is a designated Board member who engages with each group and can provide direct liaison with the Board where appropriate. The groups meet periodicaly but correspond and comment on ideas and proposals by email.
Approximately 30 people are currently engaged with Expert Groups which brings a wealth of experience and perspective to our Governance.
