Wiltshire Music Connect is one of a growing number of Music Education Hubs who are working to support music making in early childhood.
We recognise that musical learning starts at birth, therefore we want to maximise music making opportunities for families with young children.
Children aged under 5 make music in all kinds of places:
- At home
- Nursery, pre-school and childminding settings
- In reception year at school
- Children’s centres
- Playgroups, libraries and community venues
- Music groups for families
- Arts venues and festivals.
In 2017, we commissioned a mapping and consultation report to find out more about current early years music making in Wiltshire. We asked music specialists who work with under 5’s, early years practitioners, teachers and arts organisations what they think are the issues and priorities in early years music making.
Our responses to the findings and recommendations of the report will be developed over the coming months and updated on this page.
News about early years music will feature in the Hub email bulletins, so do sign up to keep informed.
