School of Rock at Riverbank Studios
Riverbank Studios is delighted to announce the launch of the exciting new School of Rock
music education project starting in September 2017.
What is the School of Rock?
The School of Rock is open to anyone aged 13-18 living in Wiltshire who wants to learn to play
an instrument in a new, exciting and sociable way. The project is designed to offer an alternative
to the usual one-to-one teaching methods by providing students with the facilities and
equipment to learn, practice and perform in a band situation.
The School of Rock teaches drums, bass, guitar and vocal performance and is based around
the current RockSchool syllabus. Our sessions run on a 6-week termly basis throughout the
year. Each term, students are split into bands of up to 4 members and you’ll learn to play
contemporary rock and pop songs together, guided by a team of staff who are all active music
industry professionals. At the end of each term, every band has the chance of a live
performance at Riverbank Cafe Bar. As well as this, each band gets a session in the recording
studio and a chance to lay down the tracks they’ve learned. Finally throughout the year, there
will be School of Rock Showcase events open to the public with a chance for every band to play
a full show to the public.
As well as developing your ability to play an instrument, we will teach you skills in the recording
studio, setting up and running a live show as well as some music business skills too!
