Wiltshire Creative
Type Of Organisation: Working with individual artists
About
Wiltshire Creative is a multi artform organisation formed of Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury International Arts Festival. Our extensive Take Part programme engages with thousands of people of all ages each year through a wide range of creative learning, community and youth arts activities.
Our work includes providing a variety of music activity and performance opportunities for a range of ages and abilities, including tasters and projects in singing, songwriting, fretted instruments, percussion and music technology.
The legacy organisations which form Wiltshire Creative have a wealth of combined experience, skills and knowledge in the delivery of music projects in schools, with community groups and participatory offers connected with our music performance programme. A number of musicians are employed by the organisation to deliver these projects, for example, three Wiltshire based practitioners who specialise in accessible and inclusive music making lead our monthly ‘Zone Club’ music and performance sessions for young adults with learning disabilities.
What I / we help young people achieve
Through the organisation's Take Part programme young people have opportunities to participate in a range of workshops, projects and performances as well as be supported to achieve an Arts Award qualification.
Zone Club participants have recently achieved Explore and Bronze Arts Awards as a result of the music activities they have taken part in during their time at Zone Club sessions.
We also provide opportunities to take part in tasters and introductions to music making, which often starts young people on their musical journey.
Thank you for arranging the Guitar Day…My daughter attended the ukulele workshop and loved it. She bought a ukulele that afternoon with her pocket money and hasn't put it down since!
