I am an enthusiastic, hardworking and self motivated individual with good personal skills, passionate about music and music teaching.
Personally I have been playing guitar for over 20 years, this includes Classical, Acoustic and Electric guitar, and have personally achieved Grade 8.
I have 15 years experience playing in bands of varying genres and have performed at professional music festivals such as Download and Techfest.
I completed a degree in Professional Musicianship through Brighton Institute of Modern Music (University of Sussex) in 2011, which gave me the drive to pursue a career in music.
I currently work in a selection of schools in the Swindon area with students in Primary, Secondary and Further Education as well as teaching privately with students of all ages. I teach Guitar and Ukulele from Debut Grade onward, keeping lessons structured, informative and fun.
I also have a background in Outdoor Education, instructing sessions for adults and young people of varying abilities and backgrounds. Teaching on and off of water, outside and in a classroom environment. Providing long term development and assessment with students over the academic year.
I enjoy working with people and teaching all levels and abilities, I am passionate about music and teaching, looking to develop myself personally and professionally in a music teaching career.

My Training & Development
I continue to develop myself as a musician through learning as well as looking for CPD opportunities, talking to other tutors and/or shadowing them in their teaching practice.
As mentioned above I recently have just completed a Teaching Assistant, Dyslexia Support and Behaviour Management course to give me a better insight into working in schools and how to aid students learning positively.
I aim to attend regular meetings with other local music teachers to discuss different strategies to teaching, and how to overcome certain boundaries. Helping to improve lesson content and planning, teaching styles, reflection and assessing students progress.
Regularly updating my personal skills by attending workshops. I do annual Safeguarding training through Wiltshire council, this concretes my approach to safeguarding and gives me clarity on what action to take if any issues are to arise.
Personal research and learning is also important to me, I am currently reading Simultaneous Learning by Paul Harris which is helping me with teaching ideas, giving me a further insight into empowering pupils to become complete, confident and creative musicians.
In the future I will be looking to attend other workshops which are more closely related to music and music teaching.
