About

I have been teaching singing for the past 4 years to a wide range of ages, abilities and in different genres. I have taught piano for the past 3 years, largely to beginners and intermediate students, making sure they have the essential skills to flourish and build confidence with their playing. I always want my lessons to help my pupils strong, competent, skilled musicians with good technique to aid their performing while building confidence and having fun.
I trained as a classical opera singer, which is my specialism and I am currently studying for a PhD in voice science.
Despite my background, I don’t just teach classical, I also teach musical theatre and pop/CCM singing. I have used ABRSM, TRINITY and Rock School exam boards as a framework to use as a reference point of progression. I have used this as a guide when teaching GCSE pupils for their performance course work.
I always treat pupils as am individual and avoid a one size fits all rule. I tailor my teaching and materials based on the individual wants and needs to help a pupil succeed and have fun.

What I / we help young people achieve

Enjoyment is and the centre of why we as people are drawn to music, and I put this idea as a focal point for my teaching. I also want my pupils to have high-quality current information on technique to help develop them into better musicians and help them succeed in music.

My Training & Development

I am committed to constantly learning and improving my own musical skills and teaching. My PhD in voice science regularly puts me in touch with industry experts in performing and teaching and I’m constantly learning new ways of teaching. I attended national and international conferences on singing such as the British Voice Association voice clinic which I spoke at this year 2021 and the Voice Foundation which I will be presenting work at Summer 2021.
