Teresa Shaw
About
I have over 30 years experience in the music industry having a Degree in music from Manchester University and postgraduate recital diploma from The Royal Academy of Music.
With a performing career that has encompassed opera, music theatre, TV, film tracks and voice overs, I have much to teach the young performer.
As a teacher I have worked in primary, secondary and tertiary education in both the state and private sector. I teach singing and drama at a well respected dance studio and have worked with the Voices Foundation so am able to deliver music in the classroom for KS1 & 2.
What I / we help young people achieve
I work on a one to one basis with students at SWGS and with groups at SDS - I am constantly striving to help improve self esteem through singing and performance and try to give my students the opportunity to showcase their work.
Where appropriate they are entered for examinations - only when they are ready, which gives them a concrete assessment of their progress. I am experienced in music/drama/performance and believe that working on these skills can help young people in days to day situations such as interviews and GCSE presentations.
