About

I am a highly experienced Primary music specialist with 10 years class teaching experience across KS1 and 2.

During my time as a teacher I have gained experience working with young choirs, orchestras and recorder groups. I have prepared these groups for performances within the school setting and in the wider community. I have also taught instruments in a whole class setting.

I studied for a BMus Music degree at Goldsmiths College, University of London and gained a 2:1. It was during this time that I discovered a real love of teaching; which led me to complete a PGCE Middle Years Music at Bath Spa University.

I have experience working with young musicians on a one-to-one basis on Clarinet and other woodwind instruments, and have prepared them for ABRSM exams and more informal performances within a school or wider setting. I have worked with small groups and individuals to prepare them for vocal performances.

What I / we help young people achieve

I believe that involvement in music making is hugely beneficial to young people and can help them progress in so many ways.

Music making encourages creativity and a sense of worth in a young person's own ability. It encourages them to be self-motivated and organised. It creates social confidence and teamwork skills through group music making and I always encourage young musicians I work with to take part in group projects.
