Salisbury Area Young Musicians
Type Of Organisation: Choir
About
SAYM offers 17 ensembles, choirs and classes to around 400 children and young people in the Salisbury Area to help them put the skills they learn in instrumental and vocal lessons to real world use.
From Start the Music! for very young children to the Salisbury Youth Orchestra, the emphasis is on producing ensemble based music at the highest quality for any given technical level.
Players of Strings, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion as well as Singers are catered for in our carefully structured ensembles that range from beginner to advanced. Most groups give at least 3 performances each year as working towards the final performance is an integral part of our activities.
Activities on offer include the Salisbury Youth Orchestra, three levels of string ensembles, four wind bands ranging from Training to Senior, two jazz bands, two choirs, two recorder ensembles and Start the Music!
What I / we help young people achieve
For most musicians, making music with others is where the enjoyment, rewards and inspiration really exists.
SAYM helps young players and singers develop their skills within an ensemble context by offering a structured progression of ensembles led by professional instrumental specialists and educators.
