About
My name is Rachel and I’m a professional musical theatre performer and teacher. I have a First Class degree in Theatre and Business Management from Derby University and an MA in Acting from Birmingham School of Acting – since graduating I have worked professionally on stage ever since. I’ve performed in Noel Coward plays, Shakespeare plays, Pantomimes and Musicals. Last year I played Ariel in a tour of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and at Christmas I played The Enchantress in Beauty and the Beast at the Reading Hexagon Theatre alongside Mr Tumble! I also regularly gig as a wedding and events singer.
For 6 years now I’ve been teaching singing to all ages and abilities. I began teaching private singing lessons in London and preparing students for their LAMDA exams in Musical Theatre through London LAMDA Tutor. I also ran glee clubs and drama clubs in West London schools for Pinnacle Performing Arts. When the pandemic hit, I left London and moved back home to West Sussex where I was able to focus on teaching. I ran group singing classes at Art of Dance and Fitness, ran drama workshops and glee clubs in schools and at holiday camps across the county for Inclusive Music & Movement and took on many more private students in schools and at my home studio. Being able to give children and young adults something to feel passionate about during such a tough time was wonderful.
I’ve recently moved to Salisbury and have begun teaching private singing lessons at several local schools, where I prepare them for LAMDA exams. I also currently teach at Starcast Performing Arts, preparing children and young adults for their end of term shows, and Elevate Dance Company (where I run my private lessons from). Performing is my passion and I find it a joy to be able to pass that on to as many young people as possible. Inspiring young people through the arts is so important, especially right now.
What I / we help young people achieve
My professional singing experience has given me the skills necessary to teach the art of singing to others and I believe I have perfected my teaching style over the past 6 years. I am very passionate about children and young adults having the opportunity to develop a musical skill and have seen first hand how singing lessons can increase confidence and personal skills, can allow new friendships to be formed and can help young people find their voice and develop a passion for something. I think my work can be used to provide a safe, supportive and fun environment in which young people can find their voice and improve their overall well-being.

My Training & Development
I am always working to develop myself as a professional performer and teacher. I have regular singing lessons myself with an excellent teacher who has taught me a lot about teaching singing herself. I am also always looking to engage in future training opportunities as a teacher to further my knowledge and skills in this area and I attend every networking event that I can.
