A peripatetic brass teacher with Salisbury Area Music Cooperative and an Associate Provider with Wiltshire Music Connect Music Education Hub. Over the years I have taught from beginners to Diploma level and most of my teaching has been on a 1:1 or 1:2 level in primary and secondary schools and beyond.

I am currently principal cornet and assistant conductor with Shrewton Silver Band, just near Stonehenge, performing at many engagements around the county during the year.

Studied at Salford under Roy Newsome & David King and during my career I have obtained a Masters Degree in Music, a Fellowship Performance Diploma on cornet, a Licentiateship Conducting Diploma and a BA(Mus).

I have undertaken annual Continual Professional Development with the former Wiltshire Music Service including Child Safety, Brass faculty development such as repertoire and teaching techniques, and First Aid training. As an Associate Provider this CPD will continue under Wiltshire Music Connect.

What I / we help young people achieve

Helping children get as much fun and fulfilment out of music as I have. I have found teaching very rewarding, seeing a students development and the fun that learning to play an instrument brings, and the social aspect of being in a band.

“Peter was just what we were looking for to help our two sons carry on with learning to play the cornet. He is truly an excellent and inspiring teacher who goes that ‘extra mile’ to understand their individual needs and concerns. He is so enthusiastic towards teaching which has completely contributed to our sons achievements. He has always been polite and punctual and we would recommend Peter 100%.”
Karen, Stockbridge

“I love having Mr Bede as a trombone teacher because he teaches me a lot in 20 minutes. He’s always kind, educational and fun.”
Leo, year 5

Peter started teaching my daughter trumpet in the last year of primary school and continued into secondary. She’d had trumpet lessons for a while before, but it was under Peter’s instruction that her playing really flourished.  “He’s clear, honest and tells you exactly what you need to do to improve,” she said.  You can tell that he really cares about the pupil’s development, and his detailed feedback and specific advice inspired her to practice and to improve immeasurably. He’s a professional, experienced musician and I’d thoroughly recommend him.
