About
I am a passionate, welcoming and inspiring musician and music teacher; I am hard working, understanding and am able to teach a variety of ages, genres and abilities from my experiences at University, performances and professional working life.
From my teaching experience I have developed an open, fun and engaging style, whilst finding inspiration from many of my students and all they achieve. I find the rewards of helping students learn their instrument are huge, along with all the many other benefits that develop a person with a musical education.
My qualifications include a BA Honours in Music at a 2:1 from Bath Spa University, Grade 8 Musical theatre on the voice and Grade 8 classical violin. I found my studies at University broadened my technique, especially in voice and provided me with opportunities to experience all genres of music.
My work with children and young people is full of variety, I get to experience music making with so many ages and even better to watch different generations, abilities and personalties perform together as a community. I try to engage children and young people through teaching them music that inspires them, song selection is always a two way process and I will then find a way to develop their technique with the genres they like. As they progress I then suggest that certain styles will allow us to progress to the next level or a particularly unique technique that they may be interested in.
My fundamental aims as a teacher is to be approachable, understanding and have fun making music.
What I / we help young people achieve
My main reward as a teacher is the improvement of a child's wellbeing, through consistent music lessons it is clear to see a child's or young persons confidence grow, their social interactions improve and sense of empowerment. This is shown through their improvement to interact in lessons and school, plus outside of an educational setting with friends and members of the public.
Through performances in lessons and at concerts or organised events, I can see the effectiveness and quality of my teaching and more importantly feedback from fellow teachers and parents. A real sense of community is built and the benefits children and young people gain from access to this is wonderful.

My Training & Development
I regularly discuss new ideas and projects with fellow teachers so my teaching and practice remains fresh and up to date. I also make sure to practice regularly and continue to push myself both vocally and on the violin with new techniques or styles.
I am currently looking to develop my training in music classes for 0-5 year olds and how this effects their growth and brain development at an early age. I am hoping to attend a trial session to see if this would be something I enjoy and could then begin my training in the New Year.
In the future I would also look to learn more and gain a qualification in vocal health so I can help people care for their voices. It is an area I already have a basic understanding of but would like to be more confident of the science and methods behind it.
