I am an experienced singer and teacher able to provide individual singing and group tuition, classroom primary Music, and EYFS  Music. I am absolutely passionate about Music education for children and young people, and I have always had a special interest in nurturing developing young voices.

My main aim is to instill a love of singing and increase confidence in my pupils through safe and healthy technique and to help them achieve their individual musical goals.

Styles of singing I teach include classical, musical theatre, pop, and folk songs. My pupils have successfully taken ABRSM, Trinity and LCM Musical Theatre Singing exams, mostly achieving merits and distinctions.

I welcome students who wish to sing for pleasure and wish to explore their own musical potential as well as preparing students for performances, music exams, competitions, festivals, and auditions. Regular pupil concerts are available in order for pupils to develop performance skills and to share their music with others.

My training has been as a classical singer and performer and I encourage and support pupils to do as much performing as they can outside of lessons.  I trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a singer where I received my BMus, and I have always enjoyed combining a busy teaching career with freelance singing, both as a soloist or as part of an ensemble.

I have also worked as Director/Assistant Director of Music and Singing Teacher in some of the UK’s leading independent schools. Since 2017, I have been a Deputy Singing Teacher at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Junior Department, where I have covered individual singing lessons, led rehearsals and group classes, adjudicated for internal singing competitions and been on the audition panel for singers.

Alongside teaching singing one-to-one and in small groups, I have worked as Head of Department, directed choirs and productions, led large scale school workshops such as The Big Sing for Sheldon School in 2019, where I am, Singing Teacher and lead the school choir. This was a new initiative for local primary school pupils in years 5 and 6, to experience singing as one big choir and to join together with other primary schools.

I have devised and led CPD for Early Years providers and am experienced in teaching classroom Music in primary schools for key stages EYFS, 1 and 2.

I have a BMus in Vocal Studies, a PGCE in Secondary Music Teaching and a performance diploma from the London College of Music.

I’m a  member of ISM and have liability insurance and am on the DBS update service,

What I / we help young people achieve

I have seen so many children and young people flourish through their music making during my career as a teacher, and this permeates into other areas of life.

Alongside so many other skills, singing lessons develop confidence and self esteem.

• self-confidence,
• creativity and self-expression
• skills in literacy and language,
• communication and public speaking,
• commitment,
• mental stamina,
• discipline,
• focus and concentration

My pupils range widely in their individual goals, but many choose to take singing exams and lessons can be catered for their personal tastes, whether classical, pop or musical theatre. I have a 100% pass rate for all exam boards with many pupils achieving merits and distinctions.
