Jack Barrie

I have been playing drums since I was 10. I worked through all of my Drum Grades 1-8.
I continued my learning by going to ACM in Guildford. Studying with some of the best teachers and players in the UK. (Mike Sturgis, Pete Riley, Toby Drummond and more)

After finishing my degree, I embarked on my working career.
I have played in residencies across the Middle East and Asia, and onboard cruise ships since 2011.
In this time I also studied with phenomenal teachers, Pete Riley and Craig Blundell.

Through this work, I has built an extensive knowledge of all styles, as well as incorporating electronic drums and triggers in to his playing.

In regards to my teaching, I engage a very practical approach. From beginners to advanced player, from learning how to hold a drum stick, through to complex concepts. Every part of Music and Drumming should be fun, and create that feeling every time.

What I / we help young people achieve

When young person are learning something new, it can be frustrating and hard. I always aim to have fun in my lessons, while still maintaining progress.
I have a very warm outgoing personality, that helps put people at ease and helps them open up. They develop confidence, improve on social skills and develop motor skills by playing an instrument such as Drums, which they will be able to use in everyday life.

My Training & Development

I actively push my own learning, I seek different teachers from my previous studies to help me look over certain things, Including Pete Riley and Craig Blundell.

I seek out Masterclass’s and Clinics with leading players and educators. Most recently, Mike Johnston, who has a wealth of knowledge both on a playing level and as an educator and teacher.

I also use online platforms, such as Youtube, Udemy and Mikeslessons.com to keep applying myself and learning new concepts and methods.

I have recently start looking into technique on a more detailed level, in the hope to make this more of a main focus during my lessons.

I strive to keep up-to-date with online courses, including Child Protection and Safeguarding, and anything that can improve or aid my teaching.
