About

I am a professional guitarist delivering fun, engaging music lessons within primary and secondary schools across Bristol and Wiltshire.

I work within individual, small group and ensemble based settings. My qualifications include a Grade 8 certificate (RGT), Diploma in Modern Music alongside a BA Honours Degree in Contemporary Music from Sussex University.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have also undertaken Safeguarding training.

My teaching approach is friendly, relaxed and welcoming. I am an experienced practitioner in several styles ranging from Blues to Classical, and specialise in modern Pop and Rock. I also have vast experience in preparing students for graded exams.

My passion for the guitar is coupled with a sincere desire to guide my students in realising their musical potential.

What I / we help young people achieve

I aim to help all students in attaining a sense of ownership over their learning. My approach offers students an opportunity to direct their studies into areas of music that naturally motivate and inspire them.

Through incorporating theoretical studies, I am also able to help with numeracy and literacy skills. The wider impact of musical involvement goes further to encourage developments in self confidence and improves team work through ensemble performance.

Working with special needs

I work with learners in various special needs schools across Bristol and Wiltshire. I tend to place a stronger emphasis upon performance based activities, and focus less on theoretical development within these settings. Although these areas are covered where appropriate.

I also have vast personal experience in caring for a younger brother with down syndrome. This has given me an intimate understanding of the issues involved in the learning and personal development of my students.
