Gary Lucas Guitar Tuition
About
I started teaching in 2007 and have been playing guitar and bass for over 30 years.
During my time as a Guitar teacher I have enjoyed working at many schools in the area including Primary, secondary and private Schools as well as teaching privately from my home studio.
I like to make my lessons fun and informal whilst promoting self confidence, discipline and the importance of practice. I also think it is important to teach music that children can relate to. Examples of this would be music from TV, films and games as well as pop and rock music. I offer grades from Rock school and R.G.T and enjoy a 100% pass rate.
What I / we help young people achieve
I always strive to get the best from my students whether its successfully learning to play a simple melody or their first chord to achieving a distinction in their grade 8 or doing well in music GCSE, A level or B tech.
This years achievements include a student being offered a university scholarship in music. 2 students getting into B.I.M.M music collage and a student being offered their own record deal.

My Training & Development
I try to engage with other music teachers to develop my own skills as a teacher. For example over this summer I will be taking lessons with another local teacher to improve my knowledge of music theory.
I like to take part in online courses. Courses I have taken include courses to improve my own skills as a musician, Most recently learning how to play the Ukulele. Also some Online child safeguarding courses.
