Frances Andrews
About
I have been a qualified music teacher for 22 years. I have a wealth of experience teaching in both the secondary and primary sector. I have led music at three different schools, allowing pupils to develop their creativity and reach their full potential. I have primarily taught classroom music (from years 1-13), but I have also taught piano, keyboard, flute, clarinet and ukulele to a number of children.
I have taught the ABRSM syllabus to many pupils on the piano, flute and clarinet.
I have a wealth of experience in working with children and this includes children with SEN. I have ensured that all pupils have the ability to access the music curriculum and to work at their own level.
What I / we help young people achieve
I have a 100% pass rate with my pupils when it comes to instrumental exams. In my 20 years of secondary teaching, my pupils consistently achieved grades A*-C at GCSE level. I also have 10 years’ experience of teaching the EDEXCEL A level qualification.
I teach many pupils across West Wiltshire, and one of my main instruments is the ukulele. As part of the first access scheme, I am able to teach this within the curriculum. Due to the success of this scheme, many pupils then opt for extra tuition in year 5, hence allowing them to develop their skills even further. I also run a number of ukulele clubs which are very popular and oversubscribed.

Working with special needs
With my wealth of experience across both the primary and secondary structures, I have worked with many different children, encompassing many different needs. I believe that music should be accessible to all, regardless of the individual needs of the child. At primary level, I have also worked with pupils in resource based centres.
