What I / we help young people achieve
Almost all of my students have come to me as complete beginners and with no background in music. I encourage students to listen and play a wide range of music from classical to modern music. I also believe that it is essential to read music and understand the theory of music for those learning to play an instrument, but I am also capable of adapting my approach to help students achieve this, especially with SEND students.
I support students to sit exams but I also work with students who have no desire to sit a music exam. In both scenarios, it is important to learn how to perform music alongside and in front of other people. For this reason, I organise student- led concerts and encourage students to join choirs, bands, orchestras and musical theatre groups.
I recognise that some students struggle with a 1-1 lesson, and I offer group lessons to help combat anxiety, particularly with singers who are nervous about singing on their own.
