Claire Schollick Music
About
I am a woodwind teacher specialising in clarinet and saxophone with over 20 years experience, teaching students from beginner to diploma level and a performer with big bands, function bands, orchestras, chamber groups, ensembles.
An experienced music teacher (BA, PGCE) in both the classroom (Key Stage 1-4) and practice room, I am used to teaching whole class curriculum, First Access, large group, small group or individual lessons.
I also offer theory to grade 8 and tuition on the flute.
As a conductor and music director, I lead wind bands and wind ensembles at all levels and am an experienced concert and event organiser for young musicians.
I am also a woodwind repairer.
What I / we help young people achieve
Good technique, musical ingredients, genre variety and fun. I think that sums up my music teaching!
Students are at the centre of my approach. This means that some students will want to take classical or jazz exams and others will want to learn their favourite pieces. Either way, I make sure the student is learning well, enjoying themselves and achieving their personal goals as well as pushing them forward to achieve and succeed.
Opportunities for children & young people
- To learn to play an instrument and / or develop skills on an instrument
- To play, perform music with others
Times
- Term Time
- After School
- School Holidays
Working with special needs
I have worked with students who have dyslexia, ADHD and students with co-ordination problems.
Often music is a way of expressing themselves outside of the core subjects focused on in school and for many it has proven an area in which they can excel.
