I studied the oboe and piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London gaining the GRSM and LRSM qualifications and have over twenty years of teaching experience. My work has been in both independent schools and for LEAs. Having moved to Chippenham five years ago, I have been the area oboe specialist but have taught all the woodwind instruments in seventeen Wiltshire schools. Currently I run the North Wiltshire Junior Wind Band. Accompanying young musicians for music exams is an important part of my working life and I play the piano for those that need it in assemblies or concerts.
As a keen supporter of music being available to all pupils, I volunteer when I can for “Wiltshire Young Musicians” charity. This group oversee the area bands and orchestras.
I also play the oboe professionally in London and the South West with various orchestras and for shows.
What I / we help young people achieve
I can help young musicians to get the most out of playing their chosen instrument. They can be tutored to pass ABRSM or Trinity music grade exams or just learn to play the pieces they want to master for fun.
