About

Hello I am Jan Forsyth, a friendly, enthusiastic Woodwind teacher specialising in Flute, Fife, Recorder, Clarinet and Saxophone . I have over twenty years experience of teaching whole class, small group or individuals. I have taught in various parts of the UK as well as internationally.

I studied for four years at Kingston University to gain a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree with Music as my specialism.

What I / we help young people achieve

I always endeavour to ensure my students get the most out of their playing. I encourage them to play a wide range of musical styles and I work hard to find repertoire which they enjoy and pushes them to their full potential.

Where appropriate I encourage students to work towards exams, giving them a goal to achieve and a way of them recognising their own progress.

Watching my students perform in a school concert/assembly (either solo pieces, ensembles or whole classes) shows the confidence they have built, the enjoyment they get and the sense of pride and achievement they feel in sharing their skills with others.

Thank you for supporting us with preparation for xxx flute exam.
Xxx has liked her flute lessons with you and come on well, There was something that you said last year that must have resonated with her as since then she has regularly practiced and enjoyed her practice!

I just wanted to say a big thank you – he’s really improved this year, and most importantly is really loving playing, so thank you for building his confidence.
