Singing and Inclusion – Giving Voice to Our Students

This CPD is aimed at teachers with little or no musical training who would like to feel more confident using singing in the classroom. It draws on several inclusive techniques for group work in the classroom to make all students feel empowered and able to express themselves through using their voices, including the teacher. It looks at how music can be used to express emotion perhaps in a less verbal way than might be offered using the voice, so that sounds we make can be put together to create pieces to improve the mental health of our students as well as emotional resilience and positive self-regulation, and crucially empathy, including the ability to listen and respond. Movement work will also be included in this CPD, giving teachers a means of using movement to enhance musical and emotional learning and creativity without feeling that they need to be able to dance! Suggested length of workshop 1.5 hours.
