Dennis Rollins Velocity trio and Samuel Dubois – Steel Pans workshop and concert

Young musicians in the West Wiltshire Steel Pans Group will be taking part in a unique steel pan workshop with Samuel Dubois and WMC Jazz Artist in Residence, Dennis Rollins. The group will then be performing at the end of the evening concert. Tickets are available for this unique collaborative concert here
For 25 years trombonist Dennis Rollins has played at the forefront of the UK jazz, funk and pop scene as a virtuoso sideman to Maceo Parker,Courtney Pine, Blur and Tom Jones. He is also an award-winning leader in his own right and in 2006 he won the prestigious BBC Jazz Award for Best Band.
He has also picked up Trombonist of the Year at both the British Jazz Awards and the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Awards. A British musician with Jamaican roots, his diverse musical influences are at the heart of his feel-good compositions.
The Velocity Trio is one of his many successful endeavours and this inventive trombone-led band features Ross Stanley on Hammond organ and Pedro Segundo on drums. For this special one-off collaboration they will be joined by Samuel Dubois (steel pans) who has performed regularly with Courtney Pine, for a set that will delight any jazz, funk and world music fans.
