Breadth

Breadth of style, genre and musical ‘type’

  • Children and Young people will be engaged and inspired by different types of music – if we want to offer them all opportunities, we need to recognise and embrace this.
  • No one style or type of music is ‘better’ or more valuable than another.
  • As a ‘leader’ in music we have a responsibility to broaden horizons as well as meet demand so opportunities to introduce children and young people to a range of different styles and types are valuable and important.
  • In doing the above we should also be mindful of the growth of creative industries in the county

Engaging and supporting children and young people in different musical styles and approach may require different types of support and is likely take place in a variety of settings which is broader than school, including the home and the rehearsal studio
